Islington is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tree Officer to join its team based in the Public Realm
division. Islington is a dynamic and exciting council in which to work. The Tree Service is responsible for the
management of council owned trees and its mission statement is: To protect, care and enhance Islington’s
urban forest – now, and for the long term benefit of the community.
You will be required to undertake tree inspections, surveys and monitor completed tree surgery. You should
have a recognised arboricultural qualification and be fully conversant with current arboricultural practices
and legislation.
You should be an excellent communicator and will be required to work closely with councillors as well
as deal with enquiries from the public. You will also be expected to organise events to promote the value
of trees in an urban environment.
You will need to work as part of a team and support a 24 hour emergency call out system.

Arboricultural Officer Ref: 3774
£27,753 - £29,286 per annum inclusive (pay award pending)
We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to work within our established Green Spaces Team, providing Arboricultural services for Merton Council’s trees and woodlands in parks and schools and providing Arboricultural advice and expertise to all other departments and stakeholders and helping to ensure that the Council fulfils its duty of care.
Reporting to the Arboricultural Manager, you will order and prioritize works, deal with tree enquiries, undertake tree inspections and surveys and monitor the work of contractors.
You will have knowledge and experience of Arboriculture, hold a nationally recognized qualification in the industry and be abreast of developments in current good practice and health and safety issues. As well as an ability to handle a range of technical matters you will need computer skills and knowledge of a modern tree management database.
A full driving license is essential.
A CRB check will be required for this post.
